Opening Day 2012

Quick review of opening day (as game 2 rages on as we speak)….

1-0 win over the hated Braves, no complaints here…. But it is just one game, right?

The only real thing I took from this game was Johan Santana seems to have picked up where he left off in 2010. Solid work, no runs allowed vs a playoff-quality team, but also returning with him is the long time concern of how many innings he’s going to give you on a given day.

We are going to need more than 5.2 IP from an “ace”…. and if he can’t consistently do that, then we will need a new ace.

I love Santana, but this is reality if you really want to compete in the NL East.
